Today, my husband and I went downtown to have dinner with
our friends. As we were walking to the restaurant, we noticed the meter for a parked car was expired. I had extra quarters on hand, so I filled the meter and
put some additional quarters on top :)

Day 58: Volunteered to Review Internship Applications
I work as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) in my
community and serve as a preceptor and mentor to interns throughout the year.
To become a RDN, students must complete accredited undergraduate work and also 1,200
hours of supervised practice through an internship program. A local internship
program in my area received over 200 applications to their program and needed
help reviewing and selecting qualified interns. So today, I volunteered to help
score and evaluate internship applications. I set up shop in my favorite comfy
chair with a healthy snack to keep me energized as I read and scored applications :)

Day 57: Went to Dinner with Someone New
When I was a Girl Scout, we always sang this song at the
closing of our meetings… “Make new friends, but keep the old. One is silver and
the other gold.” So today, I put this
lesson into practice and went to dinner with someone new! We had a great time
chatting and getting to know each other a little better. I hope this is the
start of a fantastic new friendship :)

Day 56: Left Coupons for Someone to Find at the Grocery Store
I have to say, my journey with One Smile thus far has
been life changing! Today, I had an incredibly stressful and frustrating day at
work. I was grumpy and not in the best mood. After work, I decided to pick up a
few items from the grocery store and leave coupons for people to find as my act
of kindness for the day. I started leaving coupons by grocery items and was able
to hand deliver a few too! But, most noticeable to me was my changing attitude;
I noticed that I was starting to feel better and had a smile on my face too. What I’m
getting at here is… a little kindness can go a long way. Brightening someone else’s
day will also brighten yours! So try out this classic random act of kindness
and notice how it will change your day :)

Day 55: Supported Rock the Socks
Today, my husband and I sported our “superbly eccentric”
socks from Rock the Socks! Rock the Socks is a sock fashion line that donates
25% of proceeds to charities supporting US Veterans, Mexican orphanages, and
children with cancer. Each sock design is inspired by the organization it benefits,
which helps to raise awareness through conversation. My husband is rocking his Storm
Brave socks to benefit the U.S. Vets organization and I’m rocking my Particle
socks to benefit Sunshine Kids! I love the mission and compassion of this
company! Check them out at rockthesocks.org :)

Day 54: Started Using Charity Miles
I am so excited about the wonderfully fantastic
smartphone app Charity Miles! Using the Charity Miles app when walking,
running, or biking earns money to support charity for each mile completed. Walkers and runners earn 25¢ per mile and
bikers earn 10¢ per mile! There are over 20 different charities that you can
support through Charity Miles. This app
can also help keep you motivated to go that extra mile and keep your fitness
goals as you help support your charity! The app is free and easy to use, so
download it today and start earning money for your favorite charity :)
